Middle Grade Book Review - So B It
The Horse Painters is a children s book set long ago in the last Ice Age. It opens with Umalik and Aariak, brother and sister, making for a large cave where there are drawings on the walls of bison and deer and other animals too. Many of the pictures are drawn by the girl, Aariak, for she possesses magical powers, because the animals she draws are attracted to the cave, making them easier to hunt. The book is a heartwarming story about two friends Tim and Peter who grow up together in a small town. The story begins with both the children going to the cinema for the first time with Tim s uncle. The book delves into the psyche of two six year olds who grow up together in the small sleepy town of Haldon. When my eight year old granddaughter told me there was a book she wanted I didn t waste any time. I knew nothing about Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but in my opinion any book that gets a kid that excited and asking for a trip to the book store is a good thing.
Meet Julian, the hero of our story, and let him take you on a fun filled ride through one of the toughest issues a child can encounter. Somehow he puts a new spin and unique and positive outlook on an age old, yet current problem that all children endure at some point in their lives. The Green RADventures of Nico, a series of earth-friendly kids stories, written by Paul Wozniak and illustrated by J.C. Jones, simply and succinctly convey to kids the importance of green living. The characters touch on a variety of environmental topics including recycling, climate change and conservation. They also introduce socially responsible behaviors such as volunteerism, care for animals, friendship and kindness. Overall, these books can help parents to better grow environmental children.Heidi has no idea where she was born, her birthday, her father, and how she finally arrived at the doorstep of Bernadette. Their new neighbor who has angora phobia (which is the fear of going outside) takes them in, and teaches and nurtures both mother and daughter as best she can.
